I wish I’d known about the tambourine

By admin | January 29, 2008

When I was in the high school band, the tambourine was an instrument that stayed in a chest with a compilation of many percussion instruments that were rarely used. Why this was I do not know, because even if the music did not call for tambourine, it could have been used. As a budding Latin percussionist after school, I found myself needing this instrument more and more to give my rhythms a fuller sound. I so wish that the band director would have opened our eyes as to the importance of a tambourine in modern music, even though it was accused very often in classical music.
